update

January 27th, 2017 at 09:27 pm

To those who asked if we got the $100 deposit back from the hotel, yes we did. I guess my statement was misleading. I mentioned it because it was an irritation to me. As if you are faulted for paying cash.
I worked two days this week subbing. Today I went to the store to stock up on sales. There were some good ones. Altogether, I saved over $17 today on coupons. Most of those items were already on sale, so double winning there!
I keep track of coupon savings and send it right off to our Barclay savings account.
Our middle son who lives 22 hours away and his wife lost their first baby to miscarriage today. Frown
I'm not sure how to post on the sidebar thing as far as debts owed and savings and all of that. Can somebody clue me in?

You need to go into "Blog settings" to add things, JR. I'm sorry to hear about the baby. Such a sad thing and something not much talked about.

Please pass along sincere condolences to DIL and son. It's sad to lose to miscarriage.

I recall you will have knee surgery shortly and be off your feet for awhile. I wonder how you do meal plans to cover that difficult period. Does DH cook? Experience has taught with a small amount of planning, grocery shopping, advance meal prepping ,Lasagna,Tex Mex combos, salmon patties, sweet potato pie, Quiche, corn bread, bran muffins, banana bread likewise portioned in largest sized muffin wrappers.

If weather is coldish, it's easy to make 3 basic soups like chicken & rice, beef & barley, corn chowder [any at hand vegetables] in a crockpot each night, stored in canning jars with 2" space to freeze. Likewise any preferred sauces. I make a large pot of rice, portioning that in 2 C ziplock bags to freeze as well. My guys can make salad and microwave the frozen vegetables they prefer. If you like, buy salad-in-a-bag.

Each meal is pick and chose from an acceptable variety. Heat in microwave or stove top. I suggest paper plates to reduce cleanup
